Environmental Biodiversity Protection Vegetation Management: How It Helps

Vegetation Solutions is the commercial vegetation management service of TexPest Services, an East Texas based outdoor pest service company grounded in IPM.

A Better Environment:

Not everything that grows is good!

Even the things that are good, may be growing in the wrong place. There are many plants that we consider weeds, which were not problems on their home turf, where soil and weather conditions along with natural enemies kept them in check. Areas which were once forests or prairies, then disturbed and turned to farms and ranches, and then abandoned, normally do not produce the types of vegetation which grew there originally. In order to bring them back to their original state, in many cases, we have to eliminate all the vegetation that came to live there after abandonment.

Most of the vegetation which returns is in a constant state of competition with weeds, brambles and "non native" growth. It is usually stunted, brush like, and poor quality in general.Because of this, it consumes an inordinately high quantity of water, and the water that passes through it, is generally laced with weed seeds, many of them from invasive plants which broadens their range, and destroy biodiversity. The picture is not a pretty one.

Aside from the other environmental problems related to such sites, there is the constant fire hazard, the cover they offer to insects and rodents, and the complete lack of aesthetic appeal.

In short, these areas can be considered as small scale, but ever growing environmental disasters!

Once cleared, if not consistently maintained, even mowing presents problems. Wildlife which has adopted these areas, is subject to the disruption and destruction of power mowers and shredders., the runoff from such areas is, again, polluted with refuse, and weed seeds, furthering the problem.

In light of these circumstances, chemical control, begins to make a lot of sense, even on environmental grounds!

What we offer:

  • Chemical mowing, may be a better option than mechanical mowing when it comes to preserving wildlife.
  • Right of way brush and weed control treatments for pipeline, power transmission and communications lines, railway, and highways and other applications.
  • Aquatic vegetation treatments and other services for lakes, canals, rivers, drainage and irrigation ditches, and anywhere where an aquatic licensed pest control professional is needed.
  • Chemical mowing and Bermuda grass release, suppression of Bahia grass seed heads, and growth regulation for all types of common right of way grasses, tree farms and others.
  • Preventative growth regulation for trees, shrubs, and other vegetation.
  • Re-vegetation for restoration projects.
